Elevating Cross-Border Team Efficiency with CEXIM Executives

Dec 11, 2024

Inspiring and hands-on training session with executives from The Export-Import Bank of China (CEXIM) focused on enhancing team efficiency in cross-cultural and cross-border teams. In collaboration with Prof. Minyue Dong and Jiawei Lu from the University of Lausanne, the session explored the critical role of soft skills—trust, alignment, and communication—in driving success in global teams.

From decision-making processes to cultural gaps, the session dove deep into the very real challenges global leaders face in building collaboration and commitment—across hierarchies, generations, and geographies.

Key Insights from the Session

  1. Soft skills are essential. The "soft" in soft skills is anything but soft—it’s the foundation of real team efficiency.
  2. Efficiency is fueled by clarity. Tools like the Team Alignment Map and Team Contract provide a shared language for defining roles, expectations, and agreed behaviors in cross-cultural environments.
  3. Cultural diversity is a strength. While challenging, if embraced with tact diverse views are a powerful source of innovation.

Participants left with actionable tools to improve collaboration in their high-pressure, fast-paced global environment.
